Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) is a public university created in the city of Barcelona by the Catalan government in 1990. It has a strong dedication to excellence in research and teaching (UPF ranked 12th in the Times Higher Education Under 50 World University Ranking 2015). The UPF is the first Spanish university and among the first 20 in Europe in grants funded by the European Research Council: 25 UPF grants (up to 53 for UPF group). According to the Science Citation Index and Thomson Scientific, the UPF is the university with the highest scientific Productivity in Spain in terms of publications. Within HoNESt, UPF will take advantage of the knowledge of the HIstory of Science Studies Research Group, devoted to the promotion of the understanding of science and technology as social factors that are in turn shaped by historical, cultural and social forces.
Role in HoNESt
Universitat Pompeu Fabra's role in HoNESt will be:
a) Coordinate the consortium;
b) Conduct historical research on the British, French, Hungarian, Italian and Spanish experiences of societal relations and engagement with nuclear energy;
c) Involvement in the link between historians and sociologists;
d) Contribution to the dissemination of the outputs of the project at national and international levels.
