The School of Innovation Sciences at the Eindhoven University of Technology is one of the leading groups in the history of technology and energy systems change in Europe and worldwide. It has pioneered the concept of a transnational history of technology, and coordinated Europe’s most important international research collaboration in the history of technology – the research network Tensions of Europe. Technology and the Making of Europe (www.tensionsofeurope.eu). The Eindhoven group has co-directed several big (international) research programs on the transnational history of Europe’s energy infrastructure. It has also built a solid reputation on long-term transformative change in the energy sector with a focus on stakeholder and civil society participation and cultural legitimacy.
