Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU Jena; www.uni-jena.de), founded in 1558, is one of the oldest universities in Europe. It has more than 20.000 students. The Institute for the History of Medicine, Natural Science, and Technology “Ernst-Haeckel-Haus” is part of the Faculty of Biology and Pharmaceutics. The main research focuses are the History of Science in the Cold War, History of Physics and the History of Biology in the 19th Century.
Role in HoNESt
Staff of the Ernst-Haeckel-Haus, especially members of the research group Science and Cold War will be involved in WP2 as well as WP6. We will focus on the Austrian nuclear energy project and the nuclear energy program of the former German Democratic Republic.
