The European Humanities University is a non-state university currently situated in Vilnius. It was established in Minsk, Belarus, in 1992 and relocated to Vilnius in 2004 after its forced closure in Minsk for political reasons. Registered in 2006, the University is now part of the Lithuanian higher education system and operates in accordance with Lithuanian legislation.

The University provides study programmes, higher education qualifications, performs research, accumulates scientific knowledge, develops creative activities and culture, and fosters the values and traditions of the academic community. EHU academic sphere is devided into four academic departments (History, Law, Media and Social and Political Science), responsible for research and academic activities.
